Boy's Room
There are lots of great themes for boys' rooms. We will list a few examples, so you don't feel overwhelmed with so many options. Creativity will play a major role here - anything is possible - a special theme will focus and inspire you for a creation of a unique room, and doing it smartly, it will be adapted as your child grows.
Bug's Life Insects often capture a child's attention. Almost every boy is fascinated with theses little guys. You can use a theme with a single one, or a combination of a few, they cpould vary from bees and ants to frogs and reptiles. Maybe using this theme in the bedroom will encourage your son to leave the real ones outside!
Favorite Animals We bet any boy would love a room focused on his favorite pet. It doen't matter if it's a dog or cat, bird or snake, decorating with this theme will make your son (and his pet) feel particularly at home. To make it even more interesting you could mix up lots of pictures of your son and his pet with lots of stuffed animals scattered everywhere around the room.
Playhouse / Playtown This theme will expand your creativity, it will provide you with a wonderful scheme for decorating your son's room giving you lots of wonderful playtime possibilities as well. You could o many things, an wonderful idea is making a border in kids designs or painting a mural of a street scene on one or more walls, you could even name the storefronts for family members ("Katie's Groceries", "Ted's Puppet Theatre", "Todd's Bike Shop",etc) - it will be sensacional!
Safari For this look, you can find wonderful, colorful animal wallpaper borders choices and fabrics at most wallpaper store. You could even paint the walls blue, tan, ivory, or any of the colors presented in your wallpaper border. Na idea is making pillows and valances from coordinating leopard-print fabrics, and find some stuffed lions and tigers to place around the room. Go wild! Later on, when he gets a little older, use colorful matboard and frame some of your child's artwork to display - boys always draw animals!
Rustic Cabin Most every little boy loves spending time at camp or in the mountains. And mostly anybody have happy childhood memories of hiking, boating, fishing, or just enjoying the outdoors. This scenario could have birdhouses, bears, moose, and fishes, you can even find those in wallpaper borders, in fabrics, bedding, and accessories. For a rustic look of the room you can choose comfy plaid patterns, flannel fabrics, and log or pine beds. To accessorize you might use forest themes of animals, mountain scenes, or natural materials such as pine cones, leaves, and sticks. Maybe you can even find a sturdy old trunk to store toys in some antique's house. Your son and family won't need a vacation trip to the camp anymore!
Rain Forest For a Rain Forest look, you can choose a colorful jungle border, or try a jungle area rug as a starting point. You have many choices, soft fabric snakes and colorful stuffed birds or butterfly cutouts can add to the decor. You can throw pillows of animals or jungle prints and mixe duo with themed accessories.
Race Cars This theme makes you think black and white checkered flags, and a finish line. Try to find an area rug with a car track design, or a wallpaper border of the sort. A car bed may be added later for fun, or decorate the walls with a car wall appliques. You can go further and add some framed calendar photos or posters of race cars, and put up narrow shelving to display car collections (your husband may have some from his childhood).
Outer Space A trip to the stars using a space theme might be a good idea. An Apollo crib set, outerspace border, or star-studded rocking chair might be just the items that inspires your child to reach for the stars. You could paint the ceilings anda dd reflective planets, rockets or stars on the ceiling in arrangements of the constellations, there are nice stickers taht even glow in the dark too.
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines Here na idea that will make dad proud as well, if Dad is in the service, you might let both of them feel patriotic with a room painted in camouflage and outfitted with tanks and desert colors, or maybe add some airforce planes and ships. You could add a wallpaper borders on this theme, posters and some toy acessories.
Sports Sports is a theme that spans the generations and pleases every boy. From soccer to baseball to football, there are may choices to go for, but you could start with daddy's favorite and see with your child follows along. Paint the room in the colors of your son's favorite team. For a baseball theme for example, you could use a headboard made out of bats, hang curtains from bats used as curtain rods, make a baseball lamp, or hang shelving to display gloves, pennants, and trophies. There are sports themed rugs, furniture, and beds available in most stores.
Wild Colors or Crayons Here you can do anything and feel no pressure. You can go wild starting with a lively area rug designed in fun colors for a child. You can even take your cue from the rug for colors and designs for the rest of the room. Or maybe think of a box of crayons, stick with the basic primary colors - red, blue, green, yellow ando range - and use them everywhere! You could paint every surface of a bookcase a different color, and do the same with headboard slats, drawer fronts, and chair legs. This is a great way to help your little one learn his colors! Maybe write the color names on the wall. Find a fabric to compliment the rug and use it to tie the room together with window valances or floor pillows.
Movie or Cartoon Characters Maybe your son (or you!) has been captivated by Mickey Mouse, Alladin, Lion King, Toy Story, or Scooby Doo - you'll probably be able to find bedding, lamps, and other decorative items that use these themes. Towels for the bathroom and toys will be easy to add. Once again, there are plenty of choices.
Pirates Here is an inspiring and creative theme to lead parents to design a wonderful room. Boys are intrigued by the misteries and adventuries of pirates, they will love a room using blue ocean themes, ship masts, portholes, netting, treasure boxes, and secret play hideaways. Find ispiration on pirates moveis - like Peter Pan, for example!
Knights and Castles Here ia theme where artistic parents can contribute with some artwall, faux paint castle walls, murals, and blue skies for a truly memorable room. You can use the theme of "A Sword in the Stone" or "Camelot" for inspiration. Add dragons and swords, emblems and flags for decorations, old trunks as toyboxes. If you come form a tradittional family, may be you have a ring with the family's symbol engraved, or you could create a symbol with your son's initials and add somehow in the decoration.
Trains, Planes, and Automobiles There are lots of colorful choices in bedding, fabrics, and wallpaper that feature transportation themes. Most use bright primary colors and offer eye-catching designs. Make a train track border around the room, hang airplanes from the ceiling, or go wild with a car-shaped bed later on. You could even mixed them all up and create a busy street city with stop signs, sign lights, and other fun stuffs.
Cowboy Kids This is a fun theme where you can let your imagination run wild. Think bandana valances, chaps wall hangings, tin stars, horses, rope borders, and more. You can paint the door as a barn door or like those old west bar doors. Hang cowboys hats, and maybe cowboy Woody from Toy Story Movie will inspire you.
Dinosaurs You can go from cute and stylized to realistic and ferocious - dinosaurs themes are still popular. If you suspect this is a passing phase for your little one, then opt for solid color bedding and walls, using theme elements in borders, sheets, valances, and posters. Jurassic Park movie or Barney can inspire you on this one.
