Always very important. Keeping it within the budget will help you narrow things down. A very good tip is to make a list of all the items that you would like to buy and compare that to what you can afford. Research a little, you will be amazed on how things can differ in price from one place to another.

Well, all comes down to what you really need and what you would like to add: and in this case, the thing you really need is a crib. Everything else is a matter of preference. Changing tables are also a nice thing to have, they are very handy, and some of them are even a combination of dressers or can be attached to the crib itself. But you always could use the floor, the crib or an extra bed, if you’re having one in the room. A rocking chair is another nice thing to have, but it’s not always necessary, you may have a comfy chair or sofa in the house, or even your own bed that you can use to feed your baby or you simply could stand and rock the baby in your arms.

Of course, if you have an endless amount of money to spend on the nursery, then by all means, buy all the pieces you wish. Make it a nursery set, many places sell crib and nursery sets in a combination of crib sheets, blankets and acessories.

But, if you have a small budget, there is no reason to feel bad about limiting the pieces of furniture and decorations. You can still plan a beautiful nursery with all the special items a baby will need.

Even with a limited budget you still can find all nursery items that you see in magazines and on websites, if you consider these options:

a. You can buy some items at second-hand stores or garage sales. Some of the items are in “like-new” condition, so it’s worth checking them out. But, before placing your baby in a used crib, stroller, car seat, or any other second-hand baby item, please check with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to make sure that the items weren’t recalled. You would be surprised at how many baby items are recalled each year.

b. A simple manner is to register at a baby store and ask a friend or a fmily member to organize you a baby shower.

c. You could also ask around, friends, family members for second-hand items, you may have a friend, a friend’s friend or cousin that may have kept something from a previous pregnancy, and it’s not using anymore.
